NEOCH reached a settlement agreement with Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.
“As we have seen time and time again, homeless voters and other marginalized voters have to fight to make their voices heard in the electoral process,” said Chris Knestrick, Executive Director at NEOCH. “Today’s settlement not only provides a backstop to help ensure that those purged still have a way to exercise their fundamental right to vote, but it also requires that the Secretary continue to look for information beyond what is maintained by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to verify a voter’s continued eligibility. This is essential to prevent already marginalized voters from being disproportionately removed from the registration rolls.”

It is also for, accepting and inclusive families, faith communities, educators, caregivers and youth-serving professionals, that are key to the success and well-being of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ) young people.Lighthouse Youth & Family Services’ cultural competency training focuses on promoting safe, competent and supportive care and welcoming environments for LGBTQ young people. LGBTQ youth are often subject to harassment at school, erasure in faith communities, rejection from their families and hostility in youth-serving systems.

Ending & Preventing Youth Homelessness in Cuyahoga County
Participants will gain an understanding of the youth homelessness system in Cuyahoga County, including the housing and other needed resources available to young adults. Participants will learn how a racial and ethnic equity and inclusion lens is used in the youth homeless system, as well as strategies being applied to reduce disparities and work towards equity. Participants will increase knowledge of adolescent brain development and its impact on young people experiencing homelessness. Participants will gain skills to increase their ability to authentically engage young people and partner with them in systems change.
