FREE WEBINAR SERIES - MANAGING UNCONSCIOUS BIAS
This free webinar series will take place on Tuesdays June 22nd and June 29th from 6-8PM. Participants will learn about the four types of racism, with emphasis on interpersonal. (Our future webinar series will focus on the other types.) As participants gain skills throughout the webinar series, they will learn how to apply these topics to their personal and work life.
Presenter Heather Steranka will provide terms and definitions, as well as facilitate discussions and lead interactive activities to develop cultural competency, understand racism, and manage unconscious bias. Participants will leave with increased awareness and knowledge, as well as skills to recognize and interrupt bias when it shows up in their own daily lives.
Throughout the two sessions, participants will learn about the relationship between culture and diversity and begin to examine how cultural values shape our attitudes and beliefs, including unconscious biases. We will cover the four types of racism: internal, interpersonal, institutional, and structural and unpack how each type can manifest in housing systems. As participants will learn to recognize their own unconscious biases and develop more self-awareness, they will become more culturally competent as individuals, eventually leading to better interactions and outcomes in their daily lives.
Please note, this program takes place on two consecutive Tuesdays. This course qualifies for four CEU hours. If you would like to get CEU credit, please click here to pay. Each session is different, and you must attend both, in order to complete the course.
