MORE INFORMATION:
This workshop is directed at staff of agencies (social workers, case workers and advocates) working with individuals in crisis. This workshop is an excellent in-service training for those seeking to upgrade their skill set in dealing with persons who are verbally aggressive and provide them with tools to verbally de-escalate difficult situations they may encounter, expose participants to a variety of active listening and de-escalation techniques and encourage participants to practice the skills gained in this training.
Have you ever been a part of, or witnessed a de-escalation that was ineffective, or went wrong? If you answered yes to one or both of these, then you’ll want to attend this workshop. In this workshop you’ll learn how to recognize and assess escalating behavior. You’ll learn how to appropriately de-escalate a situation based on that assessment. As well as, actual techniques to assist you in your de-escalation.
By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
Identify escalating behavior.
Assess how and when to initiate a de-escalation.
Analyze and withdraw from an unsuccessful de-escalation
Apply various techniques to assist with their de-escalation.
