On the first day of winter and the longest night of the year, community activists, homeless service providers, and homeless men and women gathered to remember those who died in the homeless community in 2018.
In 2009, Ohio legislators designated December 21st as Ohio Homeless Memorial Day. For 32 years, the Cleveland community, led by The Northeast Ohio Coalition For The Homeless, has gathered to remember those who have spent time homeless in the last year and have passed away.
This year's Candlelight Memorial took place West Side Catholic Center. We remembered 85 family and friends with candles, prayers and the reading of their names. Over 100 people came to participate.
Thank you to all who participated Community West Foundation, Basheer Jones, West Shore, Unitarian Universalist Church, Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple.
